Just waking from RTAI hibernation and getting back to business for another year.
As suggested at the AGM in December our first Monthly Social of the year will be in February- the first Tuesday (6th) with details yet to be planned.
Also at the AGM it was suggested that we would have a meeting in January to make plans for the year ahead and that this meeting would be open to everyone. This Planning Meeting/Get Together/Chat (informal) is now fixed for Friday of this week 26 th January (a bit later than we had hoped) with a 2.30 start in the Maldron/Midway Hotel,Portlaoise. The purpose of the meeting will be to make plans for the monthly meetings-places/activities etc. and plan also for other activities etc other than our monthly socials. So if you have ideas,suggestions or think you can help out in any way please attend (hopefully a cuppa will be available too). We will also review the surveys which were filled in at the AGM and see if we can do work on the suggestions made in them. Hopefully the venue,date,time etc is convenient for those interested.
If you are in our RTAI WhatsApp group I will already have informed you about the recent death of one of our members so for those not in that group I have the sad news of the death of Kathleen (Kay) Corcoran ,Inch,Stradbally which occurred on Wednesday last. Kay spent most of her teaching career in Stradbally B.N.S until her retirement some years ago. Kathleen’s funeral took place in Stradbally on Saturday morning last and the Laois Branch RTAI extends sympathy to her family ,friends and former teaching colleagues.
