Greetings Members Laois RTAI,
Thanks to all who attended our August Social First Tuesday on August 1st last .We had a good attendance of 17 for tea/coffee and cakes at The Yard in Bob’s Bar in Durrow and thankfully the weather had one of its better days.Some people took the opportunity to walk about in Durrow afterwards and observe the Scarecrows etc. in situ for the Annual Festival. There was a good atmosphere about the town with the Festival Village etc. open and a good stir of people.
The due date for our September Monthly Social (TUESDAY 5th ) is fast approaching and I have received a suggestion for the venue- namely Ballintubbert House near Stradbally/Athy. This will be a more ‘up-market ‘ event and will consist of a Tour of the Gardens by the head gardiner followed by tea/coffee and cakes in The Tabernacle of the house. This is not a cheap outing but the branch will subsidise fairly well but it will still make it € 15 (ie fifteen Euro) per person. It was discussed at the Durrow Outing and many were on for it. I am initially looking for expressions of interest so If you think you might attend this event please let me know as soon as possible and then I will confirm the event . I will seek confirmation of your intended attendance later with a deadline of August 30th.
Some members have expressed interest in The Andrea Bocelli Experience which takes place in The Helix in Dublin on December 13 . This is a Tribute Show and does not feature Andrea himself but could be very popular.There isnt a matinee just an 8pm show and tickets are available on Ticketmaster so maybe some member friends could organise themselves to travel . Just for your information really.
Hopefully all enjoying the Summer and great not to be fretting about return to school as our working colleagues may be!!.
